One of my new favorite resources for NTI is definitely Remind! As a middle school teacher, so many of my students have their own cell phones and are more than capable of being held accountable for their work. On the contrary, many parents want to be updated just as much as their students. Therefore, around winter break, I decided to implement the Remind App for every student and their families. One of my favorite features is the ability to send out mass messages about upcoming assignments or deadlines. For example, our Yearbook teacher was desperate for pictures of our 6th graders this year, so I was able to send a message to every student and their families about this opportunity. It's also been amazing for individual messages. I've noticed more and more parents are checking their phones, rather than their email. Remind is connected right to everyone's cell phone AND email. I can easily message a parent/guardian about their students work and can expect a response pretty quickly. Lastly, Remind is completely free to use, as long as you don't go over 7 classes. I highly recommend using this website/app for your students whether you're fully virtual, hybrid or completely back in the building!
Yes, I love remind! My entire school uses it and I have found it to be so helpful this year! I even use it for sending images or sharing certain moments in the day with parents since I have such young kiddos. I am curious, for your kids since they all have their own phones, do they connect their personal phone numbers to the student part - then their parents phone numbers to the parent? Do you find yourself sending messages to students as reminders very often? Seems super helpful considering most people have their phones attached to their bodies these days!
ReplyDeleteYes! I love it as well. We were using School CNXT for the first month or two of school but seeing very little engagement. A lot of parents didn't like it because you had to have an app downloaded on your smartphone. Remind has been great because you can send a mass message with or without the app!
DeleteThis is one of my favorite tools, too. It is sad that after having two students finish high school, I can count on one hand the number of teachers who used this technology.
