Week 4: Google Chrome Extensions

My chosen blog, Teach Create Motivate made a post about the importance of Google Chrome extensions. Ashley dedicated an entire post to the most beneficial extensions for teachers. After playing around with all of them, I have a few favorites. However, here are all ten that she claimed are a "must" for technology integration!

  1. Mote
  2. Colorpick Eyedropper
  3. Small PDF
  4. The Great Suspender
  5. Google Meet Grid View
  6. Pear Deck
  7. Sir Links a Lot
  8. Web Paint
  9. Dualless
  10. Fullscreen Interactive Google Slides
Off all the ones she described, The Great Suspender was my absolute favorite. I am beyond guilty of having at least 20 tabs open while I try to simultaneously run a Google Meet for 30+ students. Needless to say, I hear the phrase "Ms. Gilkey, you're glitching out!" multiple times per lesson. I added this extension and can safely say I'm hooked. It temporarily suspends certain unused, but open tabs to help your computer run a little faster. It has been a game changer for sure!

Check out Ashleys full post on all of her favorite Chrome Extensions and her explanations for each one!

  1. Hi Jessica,
This is a wonderful list! I have heard about half of these. I love the Google Meet Grid View and am guilty myself of having way too many tabs open. The Great Suspender is amazing! Peardeck is also a great tool for setting up weekly class reminders home. I will have to look into the rest of these. I am a huge fan of extensions. They make life so much easier than installing a whole program.

    1. I wish my district utilized Pear Deck more. We use Nearpod and it definitely has its issues with NTI.

  2. Jessica, I went to a PD a few weeks ago on google chrome extensions and some of these were not even mentioned! Peardeck, mote, and grid view are things that I have already heard of and/or used, but some of the other ones are new to me. Great suspender and dualless sound interesting, I will have to look them up!

    1. I swear, I learn more from other virtual teachers than I do actual PD's!

  3. Jessica, this is such a great list! I just looked up the Fullscreen Interactive Google Slides and immediately installed it! Basically you can go fullscreen while staying in edit mode so you can manipulate the slide while presenting. Genius! Thanks for posting this!

  4. As I was looking through these extensions, I found a new one -- the Fullscreen Interactive Google Slides extension. I looked it up and it basically allows you the ability to keep your Google Slides in edit mode but make them fullscreen so you can present to the kids while still manipulating the objects on the screen, typing text in, etc. Genius! I installed it already! Thanks for sharing!
